Time to put it to the test...

This week has been a rollercoaster ride for me..... I went through my Mid-Terms on Monday and and then today I had to put it all to the test at Finals.....

After 3 weeks of intense training with some of the most wonderful instructors on the grid, I spent my week getting ready for today.... I studied, I practiced, I ate, slept breathed finals this week.  At 6:00pm SLT today, I went before Laylah Lecker, Executive Trainer,  to prove that I am worthy to become a model here at CWS.

First item in my finals was to show that I had style and could work with a theme!  The theme tonight was Casual with a hat...

When I heard the theme for my final, I was really excited.  I have been shopping a lot lately, enjoying all the beautiful colors of Fall.

Fall is my favorite time of year with the leaves changing colors, Cider Mills making fresh  cider and donuts, Halloween just around the corner and the crisp cool air.  I love the fact that designers bring out the rich earthy tones of fall in their designs this time of year as well, with warm browns, burnt oranges, and rich deep reds.

My schedules are hectic with training and work , as I am sure most models are accustomed to.  So, I chose to go with a style that was casual enough for business, yet be elegant enough to easily transition into drinks with friends after a long day of taking care of business.

Time To Get It Perfect... 1920's Style

I started University of Classic With Style at the beginning of September.  Attending classes 7 days a week for the last month has been sometimes a challenge when trying to balance all that I have going on.  Our instructors have been wonderfully helpful in preparing us for Mid-Terms which I took yesterday, October 1, 2012.

In order for us to pass our mid-term we had to demonstrate our understanding of the concepts presented over the last 3 weeks, as well as performa styling.  Our theme for our Mid-Term styling event was the 1920's... a fun theme and I knew exactly what I was going to wear!

The Roaring 20's were a time that brought about a revolution in almost every sphere of human activity, and fashion was no exception.  I chose to revive the art deco style of the time with a gown from Pink Pearl Designs. The Starla gown and flamboyant facinator embodies the art deco style with beautiful tones of gold on black with flowing skirt. Choosing to compliment this beautiful gown with classic understated jewelry and a simple updo, I selected Diamonds & Pearls from the Jewelry by Jake 1906a Faberge Collection. These stunning pieces were a gift from a dear friend, because like diamonds, a woman should always be two things: classy and fabulous.

While I was nervous most of the day and SecondLife and Firestorm wanted to have some fun with me not letting things work as they should, I was able to make my clothing changes, walk the runway formations and PASS my Mid-Term!

I want to take a moment here and wish all my fellow classmates the best of luck as they take their finals as well.  It has been a fun 3 week Journey at UCWS, and I look forward to the opportunities offered there. I am scheduled to take my Final exam on Wednesday, October 3 at 6pm SLT.  I will keep you posted as to how it goes!  Graduation is set for October 5th!

FMU Graduation

I started my journey as a SL Model by enrolling in JCNY's FMU/Fashion Modeling University.  While I was there, I met a lot of great people, especially my instructor's Hermione Mocha and Clif Sharktooth. On Sunday, September 9th, 2012 after many hours of learning all the essentials required for this profession, I took my final walk down the JCNY runway as a FMU Student.

Knowledge is a never ending process.  We continue to learn everyday, and while Graduation is a milestone in our lives, it does not mean our learning has come to an end.

If I was to choose the most valuable things I take away with me from my time here, it would be the lessons I have learned here in regards to poise, self confidence and the importance of knowledge. Clif & Hermione have led us by example and encouraged us every step of the way, even when we stumbled.  With the many hours of instruction here, I can now confidently state that I bring to the fashion industry a drive to succeed, a desire to be the best I can be through continued education and opportunities, and a professional work ethic.  I will showcase  designers or agencies, that  I hope to have the pleasure of representing, with professionalism and integrity.

I would like to take a moment to thank Hermione Mocha and Clif Sharktooth for the exceptional instruction they have offered to us during our time here at JCNY FMU/ Fashion Modeling University as well as their friendship and encouragement.  They have instilled in us the importance of always putting our best foot forward and to always strive to be the best we can be.  I would also like to thank JD Hanson for offering such a wonderful and valuable program and the many opportunities offered here at JCNY .  Today I may graduate from FMU, but my time here has inspired me to continue to learn, grow and aspire to great things.

After graduation, we celebrated at JCNY's Lover's Garden.  Always a rocking good time with friends and fellow models.
